Micro Enterprise Development

MICRO ENTERPRISE

For those who are not able to benefit from micro credit, CH Global offers another kind of opportunity. In some communities, we help to establish small enterprises. Through these small businesses, individuals with disabilities, their family members and other members of the community are offered employment.

As we establish the businesses, we also train new employees and provide other types of support.  Often we are employing young people with disabilities who have no other prospects for work.

An exciting new aspect of our work involves the distribution of the products created by the enterprises we support. We are helping these businesses break into markets in developing countries through an affiliated organization, NationWares.

Guatemala

Raul is a young man from Guatemala who is deaf and mute. He lives in a region of the world where people with disabilities are marginalized. Abandoned by his family as a child, he was welcomed into a CH Global residence and raised in the loving home environment.

Raul now works for a business that produces leather goods. Raul has an important job in this business. He designs many of the items produced by the enterprise and trains others to do the same. This job has given him the opportunity to support himself and improved his self worth. Raul dreams about one day being able to hire people with exceptional needs so that they may experience the same independence and self sufficiency.

Ethiopia

CH Global recently launched a dairy farm enterprise in Ethiopia. Starting with 25 cows and 16 calves, the business has grown to 60 cows producing hundreds of litres of milk each day. From this small beginning, children in our care receive milk that improves their health. Individuals with exceptional needs and their family members are employed providing them with an income stream to them to support themselves and their families.

Based on the model developed in Ethiopia, a similar venture is being initiated in Zimbabwe
